• Notes

As noted in Chapter One of this work, "The basic family names as Wethe, Weethee, Withee, and Withey are very susceptible to different spellings. The writer has been diligent to spell the names as found in the records, but often noted more than one spelling of an individual in one set of records. Where there are signatures, the spelling is very consistent, but most of the records contain the spelling as devised by clerks, ministers, enumerators, and others. The family name has been found as Weath, Weathee, Weathy, Weeth, Wethe, Wethee, Weethee, Wethey, With, With, Withee, Withie, Withey, Withy, Wyth, Wythe, Whthee, and Wyeth. There are also MacWethey and MacWeathey." The pages are scanned out of order in many places. It goes 36-39-38-41-40, for example. I assume that's a scanning error, not a publishing error.
